Google. In my opinion, chronically known word. Whatewer you wanna know, use Google! Google just simplified our lifes a lot. Just think about it. You are doing school project and you are going to use internet. What will you do? I´ll bet most of us as a first step finds that topic on Google.
Have you ever wondered what is the meaning of Google - internet’s most popular search engine? What does google stand for? The name comes from word GOOGOL, what is mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros,(see any connection with number of letters „o“ in „google“?) which was picked to signify that the search engine wants to provide large quantities of information for people.
Now a bit of history. Google began in January 1996 as a research project of two „Google Guys“ Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were attending Stanford university. The company´s mission was "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful" and I think they succeeded.
Google today hosts and develops a number of Internet-based services and products, and generates profit primarily from advertising through its AdWords program.
And to prove we aren´t talking about some little company, Google nowdays employs over 23 ooo people and even words ‘to google’ became a verb in 2006 when both Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary as well as the Oxford English Dictionary recognized it
