Happiness is as a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but which if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you - Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Do you think that happiness is something you cannot get by your own effort? Something that just may enter your front door, but there is no "for sure"? Or on the other hand you may think that it is something that you have fully under control. Although we may have different views on this topic, I suppose that every human being wants to be happy.

But happiness does not always mean the same! If you asked several people about happiness I bet that they would answer differently. Because as we have different needs and problems, our point of view changes. For instance a penniless guy would probably say that if he had more money he would be happy, but a wealthy one would hardly say such a thing. Let us say, he would talk about his children getting graduated or that his wife would recover from cancer. So as far as I am concerned we can not say that precisely this or that will make everyone happy. But as I see it there are some hints or steps we can make to get closer or even fully reach our desired happiness. George Sand once said "There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved." and I fully agree with it.

Taking all of these into consideration every each one of us are unique therefore it is impossible to say what is the "happiness formula", but if we will try to love people around us and we will subordinate all our actions to this emotion I believe that the world can be a better place and the feeling of happiness will arrive sooner or later. In the end, take a look of what various people said about happiness.

Albert Schweitzer - Happiness is nothing more than good health and a bad memory.

Henry David Thoreau - That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest.

Kin Hubbard - It's pretty hard to tell what does bring happiness. Poverty an' wealth have both failed.

Now try to rephrase your answer - How can you achieve being happy and what does happiness mean to you?
